Services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, January 20, 2014 at Brooks Chapel with Rev. Charles Davenport officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 P.M. on Sunday, January 19, 2014 at Brooks Chapel in Canyon. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery. Doris V. Barlow Coursey was born on September 11, 1942 in Levelland to Jessie Marion and Oneta Lemons Barlow. She lived in the Lubbock area most of her life where she retired from both the U.S. Post Office and the State of Texas. She moved to Canyon in February of 2013 and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Canyon. Doris had a passion for reading and enjoyed crafting, collecting teddy bears, and tending to her roses. She is preceded in death by her father, Jessie Marion Barlow, and former spouse, Robert ""Bob"" Wingo. Survivors include a son, Robert Wingo and wife, Errynne, of Colbert, GA; a daughter, Rebecca Benezue and husband, Jeff, of Bedford; four grandsons, Sean Wingo, of Gainesville, GA, Miles Wingo, of Colbert, GA, Brandon Lancin, of Grapevine, and Brian Lancin, of Lubbock; a great-granddaughter, Aubrie Lancin, of Arlington; her mother, Oneta Yeary, of Morton; a sister, Beverly Grimes and husband, Ray, of Canyon; a niece, Courtney Thomas and husband, John, of Canyon; a nephew, Brian Wagner, of Borger; great-niece and nephew, Carrington and Barrett Thomas, both of Canyon; and former spouse, J.D. Coursey, of Lubbock. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity in Doris's name or to Harrington Cancer Foundation to benefit patients at Baptist St. Anthony's Hospital, 1600 Wallace Blvd., Amarillo, TX 79106.
