Dora Casebolt

December 31, 1969 — February 24, 2013

Memorial services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at Brooks Chapel with Rev. Donna Johnston, Pastoral Care Minister, officiating. Dora Almira Casebolt was born in Saskatchewan, Canada on September 2, 1914 and passed away at the age of 98 in Canyon, Texas on Sunday, February 24, 2013. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Dora was known for her good spirit, unselfish acts of kindness, and her strong will. Even though she lived through almost a century of changes, she was open minded and didn't judge but gave loving words of advice and support. She was an icon of grandmothers through her quilting, crocheting, sewing, and home baking. She laughed often, sat and twiddled her thumbs, and didn't hesitate in having quarreling grandchildren sit and stare at each other until they could kiss and make up. After her retirement from Rex Reeves Elementary School in Canyon, she continued helping the school by volunteering her time and helping teachers in any way possible. She was so esteemed by the staff that they recognized her with her very own ""Dora Day"" in 2000 where they presented her a plaque and spoke many kind words in expressing their appreciation of her service. Not only did she give her time to the school, but she also helped other young children through volunteering several years at Girl Scouts. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lin Casebolt, and her son, Lin Casebolt, Jr. Survivors include her daughters, Viola Smart and husband, Ken, and Pearl Huxley and husband, Chet; her son, Martin Casebolt and wife, Sharon; her grandchildren who will miss her, Clint and Tracy Casebolt, Debi Meng, Brenda Peoples, Greg Taylor, Tere Anderson, Kelly and Todd Casebolt, Dorelen Tejeda Rasor, Sandra T. Brady, and Joanna T. Hamm; 23 great-grandchildren; and 5 great great-grandchildren.
