Donna M. Dimel, 89, of Canyon, passed away on Friday, April 26, 2024. Services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, May 3, 2024 at Brooks Chapel with Father Scott Raef officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at Brooks Chapel with a rosary following at 6:00 P.M.
Donna was born on December 28, 1934 in Abbotsford, Wisconsin to Norman and Marie (Mueller) Miller. She married Robert J. Dimel on July 21, 1956 in Abbotsford, and they moved to Canyon from Dubuque, Iowa in 1982. They were married for 45 years before he preceded her in death on January 24, 2001.
Donna received her bachelor's degree from West Texas State University (now WTAMU) and was secretary for several different departments at WT. After retirement, she worked for CISD as a substitute teacher. Donna had a strong faith. She was a longtime member of St. Ann's Catholic Church, and her love for the Lord was evident through her many years of involvement in Martha's Circle.
Donna delighted in shopping (particularly at Walmart), gardening, working crossword puzzles, and watching Monk. She had an immense love for her family, and her family cherished holiday gatherings at her home, especially playing Bingo on Christmas Eve.
Donna is also preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Wally Miller and Norman Miller, Jr.
Survivors include six children, Matthew Dimel of Canyon (formerly of Chicago), Tessi Downs and husband, Dennis of Kieler, WI, Richard Dimel and wife, Emily of Canyon, Tom Dimel and wife, Christy of Amarillo, Julie Turner of Canyon, and Kari Fulce and husband, Scotty of Midlothian; 14 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and three nieces.
