Don Read

Memorial services will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, June 8 at the First United Methodist Church. Private interment will be at Dreamland Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 7 from 4:00 to 5:30 P.M. at Brooks Chapel. Don was born January 20, 1964 in Canyon to Margaret and Paul Read. He graduated from Canyon High School in 1982. He graduated from West Texas A&M University in 1991 with a degree in finance. Don lived in Canyon his entire life. He worked with his father at Read's Automotive, serving as business manager for 33 years. In addition, he managed his own stock portfolio and was a life-long student of the world of finance and economics. He possessed a healthy sense of humor and was well-read, spending much time acquiring knowledge about sundry topics. He was preceded in death by his sister, Paula, and his mother, Margaret. Survivors include his father, Paul, of Canyon; sister, Marilyn and husband, Michael Roberts, of Canyon; two nieces, Meagan Swatzell, of Canyon, Whitney Roberts, of Austin; and two nephews, Matthew Swatzell, of Lubbock, and Shawn Swatzell, of Amarillo. The family suggests memorials be made to a favorite charity.
