David Arthur Brandon

March 2, 1937 — September 14, 2023

David Arthur Brandon, 86, long-time resident of Boulder, CO and more recently living in Fort Collins, CO, passed away on September 14 after complications from colon cancer surgery.

David was born on March 2, 1937 to Lewis and Claire Brandon in Loma Linda, CA. The Brandons moved to Canyon, TX where David graduated from Canyon High School in 1955. After graduation, David enlisted in the Navy and served onboard the USS Kermit Roosevelt (ARG-16) out of Long Beach, CA in the Pacific until 1959.

He returned to Canyon and attended West Texas State University, now known as West Texas A&M, and graduated with a BBA in Accounting. He married his true love, Carolyne Viola Glanton, on December 21, 1961. They graduated together and moved to Colorado. Carolyne was a long-time teacher at Fairview High School and David had his career as an accountant at IBM. They lived in Boulder for 35 years. Carolyne passed in 1996 of breast cancer, but David continued to be part of the Boulder community until he moved to Fort Collins in 2019 to be closer to his niece, Mendy Putman and her family.

David is proceeded in death by his wife, his parents and his two brothers, Larry and John Brandon, and brother-in-law, Ray Burrus. He leaves behind a loving family who enjoyed his fun, easy-going spirit, kindness and his generosity to everyone. His survivors are Barbara Glanton Burrus, sister-in-law, A.C. and Bettie Glanton Wimberly, brother and sister-in-law, Tina Brandon, sister-in-law, 8 nieces and nephews, 10 great nieces and nephews, and 13 great-great nieces and nephews. David also wanted to acknowledge the love and friendship of the Fox Family in Boulder, specifically Alice and Skip Gottsching who loved him like their own family.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 24th at 1 p.m. at Brooks Funeral Directors chapel in Canyon, TX. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to any Navy military organization of your choice in his honor or to Dreamland Cemetery, PO Box 38, Canyon Texas 79015.
