Darren Wayne Lannou, 50, of Canyon, passed away on Friday, December 27, 2024. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 on Wednesday, January 1, 2025 at Brooks Chapel. Funeral services will be private.
Darren was born on June 5, 1974 in Baytown, Texas to Robert and Mary Jo (Matysiak) Lannou. He graduated from Baytown High School in 1992 and received a bachelor's degree in marketing from West Texas A&M University. Darren married Robin Williams on March 22, 2003 in Amarillo. He worked at Baptist St. Anthony's Hospital and quickly worked his way up. He then became head of the Quality Control Department at Missouri Valley which contracted with Pantex and thoroughly enjoyed his work and his coworkers there.
Darren will be remembered for his easy way with people. He was fun loving and never met a stranger. His magnetic personality drew people to him, quickly making them comfortable in his company. He was the life and soul of any party, and his family and friends will miss his playful spirit.
From the time he married, Darren fully embraced the idea of being a dad. His life's greatest accomplishments and dearest treasures were his daughter, Hannah and his son, Cole. He undoubtedly put them first always and enjoyed watching and supporting them in anything they did. He constantly wanted the very best for them and everyone around him. He was a devoted Christian and knew the Bible cover to cover. He enjoyed reading, especially about history, watching movies (Hallmark was most often his pick), playing games with his kiddos, and of course, being silly was a favorite pastime. Christmas will always be a special time for his family because he loved it so much. They have many cherished memories of his decorating expertise and his passion for the holidays. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Darren is preceded in death by his grandparents, Gordon and Viola Lannou and Herman and Teen Matysiak, his parents, Robert and Mary Jo Lannou, his Aunt Tina that he thought of as a mother, as well as several other aunts.
Survivors include his wife, Robin Lannou; his children that he absolutely adored, Hannah and Cole Lannou; two sisters, Daphne Zybach and husband, Shawn and Dana Moore; father-in-law, Steve Williams; mother-in-law, Pam Williams and husband, Jay; sister-in-law, Stephanie Swan and husband, Nathan; brother-in-law, Daniel Williams and fiancé , Marissa; and he was a favorite uncle to numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made at any Amarillo National Bank to the Benefit Account for Hannah and Cole to further their education.
