Darlene Dickey

January 15, 1941 — September 24, 2022

Darlene Dickey, 81, of Weatherford, Texas, passed away on Saturday, September 24, 2022. Private family services will be held at Brooks Chapel in Canyon with burial in Stratford Cemetery.

Darlene was born on January 15, 1941 in Spade, TX to J. L. and Mary (Young) Stowers. She was so very proud of her farming heritage and treasured all that entailed, her favorite being harvest time, taking hearty meals and snacks to the fields. She made sure anyone she visited with knew she was from a farming family!

Darlene loved the Lord with all her might and spent countless hours researching scripture (as evidenced by her well-worn bibles and concordance). She wanted everyone to know and experience the goodness of God.

She was an excellent seamstress, making most of her girls' clothes throughout their school years, specializing in beautiful prom dresses. She was also a very talented artist and was known by all of her family for her gift and eloquence with words.

The mountains of Cuchara, Colorado were so dear to her heart. She loved all the years of riding motorcycles and playing in the streams on family vacations and passed on that love of the mountains to her family. She also treasured the many elaborate family gatherings over the years.

Darlene had a fierce love for her family. Her heart was totally invested in her children, her grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren whom she always encouraged to love the Lord.

Darlene made Hilltop Park her home in 2018. She was Vice President of the Residents Council and worked diligently to make changes where she thought necessary to enhance the welfare, happiness, and comfort of her fellow residents. The family would like to thank her many caregivers (who were also her friends) at Hilltop Park for their loving care.

Darlene is preceded in death by her parents, her precious sister, Maldean Houston, nephew, Kent Houston, great nephew, Levi Houston, and brother-in-law, Dan Brodhead.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Dianna Brown and husband, Danny of Weatherford, Caroline Brooks and husband, Roland of Canyon, Paul Dickey of Weatherford, and Penny Ford and husband, Frank of Weatherford; six grandchildren, Amanda Siebman and husband, Wade of Weatherford, Brandon Brown and wife, Sarah of Weatherford, Kelsey Morris and husband, Brian of Lubbock, Chase Brooks of Canyon, Bailey Schenk and husband, Aaron of Lubbock, and Hannah Ford of Lubbock; ten great-grandchildren, Tate, Bodie, and Hayes Siebman, Bram, Brant, and Bridgett Brown, Kaden and Jace Morris, and Raelynn and Sawyer Schenk; two sisters whom she adored, her twin and cohort, Arlene Brodhead of Springtown and Ineta Chesher (her forever best friend) and husband, Jimmy of Stratford; and a host of nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.
