Danny Swepston

Danny Allen Swepston, 68, of Canyon, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 27, 2016. He was surrounded by his family. The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 29 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Brooks Chapel. Services will be 4:00 P.M. Friday, September 30 at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Rick Enns, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Dreamland Cemetery. Danny was born February 17, 1948 to Herschel and Hazel Swepston. He attended Floydada High School before going to Tarleton State, where he would marry, Judy Wilson, on January 31, 1970. Two years later he graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in wildlife sciences. Danny's career with Texas Parks & Wildlife span over 37 years and in several cities, starting with Nacogdoches, Austin, Alpine and then to Canyon. Danny thoroughly enjoyed his job all the way to the end. Even while in retirement he would spend time volunteering. Danny and Judy's love gave them three beautiful children, Wade born June 28, 1971, Jason born January 1, 1974, and Julie born March 8, 1976. Danny was preceded in death by his son, Jason, in 1974. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Judy; son, Wade Swepston and wife, Kerrie ; daughter, Julie Swepston, four grandchildren, Joseph, Josh, Jayson, and Eryn; two granddoggies, Minnie and Millie; and two sisters-in-law, Mary McEvers and husband, Karl and Paula Owen and husband, Mike.
