Daniel Morris

December 31, 1969 — October 12, 2010

Family Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, October 16, 2010 at Dreamland Cemetery. Daniel Efstratias Morris was born on November 21, 1933 in Warren, Ohio to Mary and James Morris. At a point the family was moving to Arizona by train when his mother became ill and had to stop in Amarillo for medical care. They never left and as a result Daniel graduated from Amarillo High School. In the early 60"s he went to Chicago and worked for warehouse shipping for 6 years, then returned to Amarillo. Daniel was a gentle and kind man making friends easily wherever he went. He was a true gentleman. Most people around him simply knew him as "Uncle Dan", and the phrase mostly heard around him was "He never gave up." He was preceded in death by his father, James, a stepfather, Warren Parker, his mother, Mary Parker, and a brother Michael James Morris. The Morris family praises all staff including doctors, nurses, and office staff of Plum Creek Nursing Home and Hospital for the incredible care and compassion they gave to Daniel. He will be truly missed by all that he touched. Survivors include his sister, Rose Ellen Pearson, of Ft. Worth; nephews, James Bynum Morris, David Leland Morris and wife, Tammye, Richard Madison Morris, Douglas Michael Morris and wife, Dina, all of Amarillo; his niece, Mary Angela Ridgway and husband, John, of Midland; along with 3 great nephews, Christopher Morris and wife, Renee, James Morris, and Ian Morris, and one great niece, Noelle Morris, all of Amarillo; also, two great great nephews, Christian David and Carter James Morris and a great great niece, Caylee Grace Morris. The family suggests memorials to Plum Creek Nursing Home, 5601 Plum Creek Dr., Amarillo, Texas 79124.
