Dana Mcdowell

Services will be at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at the First Baptist Church with Dr. David L. Lowrie, Jr., pastor, officiating. Burial to follow at Dreamland Cemetery. Dana McDowell was born on January 10, 1932 in Amarillo to William and Estelle Montgomery Rice. Dana graduated from Canyon High School and West Texas A&M University. She served in the US Air Force and worked at the Pentagon. At one time she was an employee for the City of Canyon. After more than 30 years of employment, she retired from Southwestern Public Service. Dana was a member of the First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Joe Rice. Survivors incclude a daughter, Valorie Allen, of Cape Fair, Missouri; granddaughter, Andrea Sims, of Sutherland, Virginia; three great grandchildren, Valorie, Waylon, and Simon Sims, of Sutherland, Virginia; brother, Bill Rice, of Amarillo; two sisters, Bettie White, of Amarillo, Sue Stipe, of Canyon; sister-in-law, Mary Rice, of Canyon; and former husband, Bob McDowell, of Amarillo. The family suggests memorials be made to the First Baptist Church Missions Fund, 1717 4th Ave, Canyon, TX 79015.
