Dale B. Merriman

Dale B. Merriman, 84, of Canyon, passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2026. Memorial services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 5, 2026 at Canyon Country Church, with Jeff Cates officiating.

Dale was born on September 9, 1941, in Morton, Texas, to Rev. Doyn and Katherine (Shelley) Merriman and was raised in Farwell, Texas. His family later moved to Plainview at the start of his high school years, and he graduated from Plainview High School in 1958. His father officiated when Dale married Monette Russell in Finney Switch, Texas, on May 30, 1959. They shared 67 wonderful years together, loving God and loving family.

Dale earned an AAS degree from Amarillo College in 1974 and later taught Commercial Electronics there. He also owned A-1 TV Repair and founded Suburban Cable, Randall County’s first cable company. A true Southern engineer at heart, he led his family in building their home, one of his favorite memories. He loved flying and piloted his Cessna 182 for many years. He was also a championship bowler and loved playing dominoes with family and friends, working puzzles, playing pool, water skiing, and camping and fishing with his family. He considered his most treasured accomplishments to be his family. He was a faithful member of Canyon Country Church.

Dale is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Gene and Gary Merriman.

Survivors include his cherished wife, Monette Merriman; three children, Becky McCandless and husband, Mike, Randy Merriman and wife, Lissa, and Susan Turner and husband, Lane; seven grandchildren, Les, Katy, Ty, Brandi, Jake, Chance, and Seth; three great grandchildren, Garrett, Macayla, and Conner; two great, great grandchildren, Salem and Everett; and his Canyon Country Church family and many dear friends.
