Services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Canyon with Rev. Terry Meyer officiating. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery. After a courageous three year battle with cancer, Cynthia Anderson passed from this earthy life on September 18, 2009. She was born November 21, 1950 to Rollin and Maxine Carlson in Borger, Texas. She married Gary Anderson July 26, 1976 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Borger. They made their home in Canyon, Texas. In 1983, Cynthia gave birth to their daughter, Elissa. Cynthia graduated from Borger High School and continued her education at Frank Phillips College. She finished her bachelor"s degree in biology and her master"s degree in administration at West Texas State University. Cynthia was then hired at Canyon High School to teach Chemistry, and later became an assistant principal there. In 1983, she transferred to Sundown Lane Elementary , where she was the principal until 2003, when she retired. In 2004, she took a part time job at Kohl"s Department Store. Cynthia was preceded in death by her father, Rollin Carlson, and her brother, James Carlson. Survivors include her husband, Gary Anderson; a daughter, Elissa Anderson; her mother, Maxine Carlson; two nephews, Reid Anderson, of Farmington, NM, and Brian Carlson and family, of Chicago, IL; a niece, Deanna Anderson Colburn and sons, of Farmington, NM; a sister-in-law, Patsy Wurl; her mother-in-law, Peggy Anderson; and a brother-in-law, Larry Anderson and wife, Jennifer. The family requests that memorials be made to Odyssey Healthcare, 6900 I-40 W., Suite 1500, Amarillo, Texas 79106 or the American Cancer Society, 3915 Bell Street, Amarillo, TX 79109.
