Coy Henry Gruhlkey, 9, of Wildorado, met his sweet Jesus on Friday, May 29, 2026. A celebration of his life will be at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, June 5, 2026, at Hillside Christian Church–Amarillo West Campus with Scott Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at Hillside Christian Church, Chapel in Amarillo.
Coy was born on April 11, 2017, in Amarillo to Braden and Lauren Gruhlkey and was going into the 3rd grade in Bushland. He was born a true farmer at heart, never leaving the house without his pliers, his work boots, and one of his many pocketknives in hand. Adventurous and highly athletic, Coy loved his family deeply and greatly admired his brothers, often saying they had taught him everything he knew. He was a protector of his family, especially for his twin sister, Copeland. His family will always remember his enormous heart, his way of making them laugh every day, the joy he brought to their family, his deep compassion for those less fortunate than he, and for his passionate love for Jesus. He was the joy of their lives and a true angel.
Coy was met by his great grandparents, Larry McClintock, Linda Thomas, Richard and Jackie Heidrick, and Roger and Janice Gruhlkey.
Left to cherish his memory until they meet him in heaven are his parents, Braden and Lauren Gruhlkey; his siblings whom he adored, Easton, Knox, and Copeland; grandparents, Bill and Timma Gruhlkey of Wildorado, and Lyndon and Chris McClintock of Canyon; aunts, uncles, and cousins, Lance and Megan McClintock of Houston, and their children, Maddie, Abby, and Luke, Brittan and Michelle Gruhlkey of Wildorado, and their children, Casen, Rylan, and Ky, and Cameron and Kaylee Gruhlkey of Dalhart, and their children, Draper, Keslynn, and Oakley; and great grandparents, Bert Thomas of Vega and LaVaughn McClintock of Beloit, KS.
The family suggests memorials be to the Children’s Ministry at Pathpoint Fellowship Church, 6215 Canyon Dr., Amarillo, TX 79110.
A memorial fund is being set up in honor of Coy. More information will follow soon.
