Services will be at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at Brooks Chapel with Allen Burkhalter officiating. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery. Cora Ward was born July 1, 1912 in Santa Paula, California to Jack and Ida Johnson. She married Jack Ward on September 26, 1927. He preceded her in death on August 15, 1988. She lived in McAlester, Oklahoma, Hereford, and Amarillo. In Hereford, they farmed for the Reiners for 40 years and she worked for Piggly Wiggly for 27 years as a meat wrapper and started the Deli. She was Employee of the Year in 1967. They retired and moved to Amarillo in 1981. Cora was a member of Chaparral Hills Baptist Church. She enjoyed canning, quilting, knitting and crocheting. She was a very loving mother and devoted Grandma. She has six living generations. She was preceded in death by three sons, Buck, J.N., and Lawrence Ward; and two daughters, Joyce Green and Doris Ward. She was lovingly cared for by her great-granddaughter, Tracie Downing, for the last two years. Survivors include one daughter, Louise Williams, of Amarillo; 24 grandchildren; 66 great-grandchildren; 30 great-great grandchildren; and 2 great-great-great- grandchildren. She also is survived by numerous other nieces and nephews.
