Clyde Johnson, 81, of Happy, passed from this earth on Thursday, September 16, 2021. Memorial services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at the First Baptist Church of Happy with Rev. Charles Davenport and Pastor Kyle Sumner officiating. Private burial will be in Happy Cemetery. Viewing will be in Happy's Memorial Chapel.
Clyde was born on July 8, 1940 in Tulia to FA and Nettie (McKone) Johnson. He married Carmelita Lane on April 23 1964, and she preceded him in death in June, 1977. Clyde married Marilyn Coile on October 7, 1978. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving from 1958 to 1962 on the USS HE Hubbard. He worked at Pantex from 1984 until retirement as a tool maker and machine tool mechanic. Clyde was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Tulia.
Clyde is also preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Don and Larry Johnson. Survivors include his wife, Marilyn of the home; daughter, Sonya Terry and husband, Mark of Porter, TX; son Vance Johnson and wife, Holly of Amarillo; grandsons, David Terry and wife, Kaleigh of Edmond, OK and Grayson Johnson of Amarillo; granddaughter, Elizabeth Redding and husband, Kyler of Arlington; two great-grandsons, Abel and Levi; sister-in-law, Vera Johnson of Tulia; uncle, Charles McKone of Tulia; aunt, Betty McKone of Tulia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family suggests memorials be to the Happy Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 216, Happy, TX 79042 or to WTAMU Women's Softball % WTAMU Athletics, WT Box 60049, Canyon, TX 79016.
