Services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 8, 2011, at the Wayside Community Church, with Rev. Byron Williamson officiating. There will be a visitation from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Friday, January 7, 2011 at the Brooks Chapel in Canyon. Clifford Stevens was born in Panhandle, Texas on November 9, 1920 to Arrie Lee and Isabelle Stevens. He moved to the Wayside community in 1932 and spent his life farming and ranching. He married Villa Montene Easley in 1944 in Fort Worth, Texas. He is a member of the Wayside Baptist Church. Clifford served as Sargent in the US Army Air Force during WWII. He served on the school board at Happy ISD when the new junior high building was built, and also served on the Panhandle Land Bank for many years during the 1960"s and 1970"s. He is preceded in death by his parents, five sisters, and his daughter-in-law, Fran Stevens. Survivors include his wife, Villa Montene, of Wayside; sons, Jerry Stevens, of Lubbock, Wayne Stevens, of Amarillo, Larry Stevens, of Wayside, Barry Stevens, of Canyon, and Terry Stevens, of Groom; and a niece, Mary Kate McLain, of Wayside; eleven grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.
