Christina ‘Tini’ Magdalene Wilhelm, 92, passed away on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, Services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Umbarger with Fr. Alvin Tshuma as Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. A rosary will be held at 6:00 P.M. on Friday, January 9, 2026 at Brooks Chapel in Canyon.
Tini was born on March 28, 1933 in Umbarger to Joseph and Emma (Weynand) Friemel. Her father lost his sight before she was born, and from a young age, she became his guide. At just 10 years old, she started driving him wherever he needed to go. She attended school in Umbarger where she played on the softball team and was part of the State Championship team. She graduated from D’Hanis High School in 1951 and married Bernard Wilhelm in Umbarger on October 8, 1952. Tini worked alongside Bernard on their farm, driving the tractor, hay bailer, or truck whenever necessary. They moved from Umbarger in 1976. After 47 years together, Bernard passed away on October 28, 2000. She later married Leo Koch in December 2002, who also preceded her in death in 2005.
Tini’s ultimate calling was to be a mother and homemaker, raising eleven children. She loved the outdoors and was a master Farkle player. She also loved playing Scrabble, Bingo, and Mexican Train, being known to change the rules to her advantage often. In her later years, she lived in the Dallas area to be closer to her family. She was a faithful, longtime member of the Catholic Church.
Tini is also preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Marion Wilhelm at birth in 1969, and Andy Wilhelm in 2005, all six of her siblings, a son-in-law, Joe Reinart in 2016 and a grandson, Craig Reinart in 2007.
Survivors include ten children, Lloyd Wilhelm and wife, Denise of Delta Junction, AK, Daniel Wilhelm and wife, Sharon of Amarillo, Wade Wilhelm and wife, Virginia of San Diego, CA, Janet Johnson and husband, Steve of Boise City, OK, Gerald Wilhelm and wife, Gay of Paris, TX, Edwin Wilhelm and wife, Janet of Amarillo, Judy Head and husband, Jeff of Tyler, Tim Wilhelm and wife, Vickie of Amarillo, Joyce Lumpkin and husband, Joe of Grapevine, and Jennifer Moreland and husband, Erick of Grapevine; daughter-in-law, Jackie Wilhelm of Brighton, CO; 38 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren.
