Christina Janzen

August 19, 1964 — June 30, 2017

Our beloved Chris passed into heaven on Friday, June 30th at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. She was 52 years old. Memorial services will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, July 7 at Brooks Chapel with Rev. Marlon Sparks, pastor of Victory Family Church in Perryton, officiating. Chris was born in Houston, Texas on August 19, 1964. She was the apple of her daddy's eye as the youngest child. He would carry her on his hip and walk her around the house. Chris's mother took her to church and was instrumental in Chris becoming a born again Christian at an early age. Chris graduated from Kenai Central High School with the class of 1982. She was on the Kenai Kardinals swim team and loved swimming and thrived on the competition. She and best friend Bonnie Shirnberg Carlson painted a mural of a swimming Kenai Kard on the wall at the KCHS swimming pool and it remained there for several decades. Chris studied English/Language Arts and Teacher Education at West Texas A & M University in Canyon, Texas and graduated with a B.A. Teaching Degree in 1991. She was involved with the WT Baptist Student Ministry and went on numerous mission trips. Chris loved and admired Joel Osteen of Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas; his online sermons brought her great comfort and nourished her spirit and soul. Her knowledge of the Bible was extensive and she could recite many bible verses from memory. Chris used her teaching degree to home school her three children with all of them graduating from the Panhandle Christian Home Educators Association. She was also teaching English as a Second Language for Teaching ESL Online. Chris loved the Arts and was an avid student of anything creative or artistic. She created ornaments from dough art and sculpey clay, as well as stained glass and mosaic projects. Chris created a name for the treasures she made-Imaginotions. Recently she made wedding cake toppers and enjoyed making larger projects such as carousel horses. She sold her treasures at the KCHS annual Thanksgiving bazaar for many years and online. She loved musical theater and movies, and music from all genres: rock and roll and country. Her favorite artists were Texas son George Strait, Stevie Nicks, Pat Benetar, David Bowie and Journey to name a few. Chris and Travis moved to Canyon, Texas in 2008 to be close to the Janzen family in Perryton, Texas. She loved Canyon dearly and was especially fond of Palo Duro Canyon. Her Kenner family was from the Texas Panhandle as well so she was at home and happy in Canyon. Chris had a positive and sunny disposition and an awesome sense of humor. She gave God the glory for all things and He provided miracle after miracle for her until He called her home. She was a beautiful and spiritual inspiration to so many. She had a fearless and free spirit and will be missed so very much. Chris is survived by the love of her life and husband, Travis Ray Janzen, son Jacob Kenner Janzen and his fiancé Marissa Rodriguez and her daughter Anastasia Rodriguez, son Jesse Travis Janzen and daughter Sophie Christine Janzen, all of Canyon, Texas; parents James Earl Kenner Sr. and Glenda Jean Kenner, brother James Earl Kenner Jr. and sister Katherine Kay Kenner, all of Kenai, Alaska, as well as precious aunts, uncles and cousins.
