Chloe Wright

Graveside services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at Dreamland Cemetery in Canyon. Chloe Norris was born on June 7, 1923 in Ada, Oklahoma to Minnie Montgomery Norris and Hugh Norris. Chloe grew up in Ada, graduated from Ada High School and then from the University of Oklahoma. She married Charles Edward Wright in 1947. They came to Canyon in 1948 where Charles taught biology at WTSU and Chloe became a faculty wife. They had three daughters and were married for 53 years. Their church home was the First Presbyterian Church in Canyon where Chloe enjoyed making the Chrismons used to decorate the church used to decorate the church each Christmas and singing in the choir. Chloe was active in the Canyon Girl Scouts and volunteered at the Panhandle Plains Historical Museum and Meals on Wheels. She spent many days and nights sewing and repairing dresses for the costume department in the early years of the TEXAS musical drama. Throughout her life she enjoyed being with her friends, at Sewing Club, Monday Morning Coffee, Dinner Bridge Club, Bid or Bye, and socializing with her neighbors at Palo Duro Village. She treasured the friends in her ?Foursome,? playing her last hand of bridge when she was 89. Chloe was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Beth Martin, and her husband, Charles E. Wright. She is survived by her three daughters, Rebecca Fox and husband, James, Deborah Willet and husband, Steve, Melissa Priest and husband, Jeff; grandchildren, Rachel, Francis, Sarah and Romney, in England, Jennifer and Laura, in Houston, Bryan and Katie, in Denver; three great granddaughters, Zoe, Holly, Lee Ann; and two great grandsons, Felix James and Oscar Charles. When she was not playing bridge, Chloe had her nose in a book. The family suggests that memorials be to the Canyon Area Library, 1501 3rd Avenue, Canyon, TX 79015.
