Charles Julian Mendez, 50, of Amarillo, passed away on Wednesday, December 24, 2025. Services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at the Trinity Fellowship Student Ministry Center with Pastor Kyle Wilkinson officiating. Burial will follow at Llano Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Monday, December 29, 2025 at Brooks Chapel in Canyon.
Charles was born on October 12, 1975 in Amarillo to Julian Mendez and Connie (Lucero) Thomas. He grew up in Amarillo and worked as Lead Man for Clayton’s Glass. His family is grateful for his remarkable boss, Jeff.
Charles will be lovingly remembered for his huge giving heart and his love for his family. He was devoted to his son and daughter and always brought joy and laughter to family gatherings with his playful, joking spirit. He enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews, loved music, dancing, and lowriders, valued staying connected with friends and loved ones, and was a member of Trinity Fellowship Church.
Charles is preceded in death by his grandparents, Josie and Margarito Lucero, Francisco H. Mendez, and Maria Garcia Mendez, four uncles, Eddie Lucero, Margarito Lucero, Jr., Roger Lucero, and Johnny Lucero, aunts, Corine Lucero and Anita Lucero, cousin, Sarah Salinas, and brother, Timothy Kirk Mendez.
Survivors include his son and daughter, Eddie and Mariah Mendez; father, Julian Mendez; mother, Connie Thomas and fiancé, Jason Thomas; brothers, Adrian Ochoa and Daniel Montenegro; sisters, Teresa Lawrence, and Dorothy Mendez; nieces and nephews, John and Alisa Parrie, Jordan Parrie, Chasidy Martinez, Desiree Ramos, Alyssa Mendez, Rome Riddley, Jr., Naomi Fuentes, and Aniyah Carver; great nieces and nephews, Kynslee Martinez, J’den Baeza, Jordan Parrie, Jr. and Charlotte Parrie, Myles and Nori Soria, and Aaliyah and Ariella Parrie; and several uncles, aunts, and numerous cousins.
