Graveside services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 26, 2011 at Bailey County Cemetery. Memorial services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Canyon with Rev. Patrick Six, associate pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be at Bailey County Cemetery, Muleshoe, Texas Charles King, 79, of Canyon, Texas died March 23, 2011. He had recently moved to Canyon from Lubbock. Mr. King was born November 25, 1931 in Haskell, Texas to Charles and Audie Penton King, and later moved to Muleshoe where he met Patsy Ruth Lane while attending Muleshoe High School. They married on October 21, 1950 and recently celebrated their 60th Anniversary. He worked in farming and ranching in the Panhandle area. For some years he owned and operated the Marina at White River Lake east of Lubbock. When he retired he was doing asbestos abatement and removal with King Consultants. Mr. King was a man of great faith, humour, and unconditional love for his family and friends. He took immense joy in nature and loved to travel. Charles was preceded in death by a son, Billy Charles King, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C.M. King, and a sister, Delia Marks. He is survived by his wife, Pat of Canyon, daughters and son-in-law, Benny and Cindy Simpson and Delinda King of Amarillo. He has eight grandchildren, Jared Simpson, Rebecca Rutkowski, Grace Rigdon, Erin Carlile, Valley Grant, Ric Alsup, Billye Alsup, and John Alsup, all of Amarillo. He also has 12 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Friday, March 25, 2011 at Brooks Chapel. Memorials may be sent to Nations Around Our Table c/o 12375 Woodlake Rd., Elbert, Colorado, 80106.
