Charles Donnell

Graveside services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, September 26, 2013 at Dreamland Cemetery in Canyon, TX with David Lough, minister at University Church of Christ, officiating. Charles L. ""Pete"" Donnell was born in Randall County and graduated from Canyon High School and West Texas A&M University. He served 2 years in the U.S. Army, stationed in France. After his discharge, he operated Donnell Garage in Umbarger with his father, Reeves Donnell, until 1978. In 1980, he opened Pete's Cycle, a motorcycle accessory shop on Hwy 60 in Canyon. He retired in 1994 and traveled in an RV with his wife for 8 years before settling again in Pendleton Harbor Subdivision at Toledo Bend Lake near Hemphill. Pete was preceded in death by his daughter, Dale Ann. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Shirley; two sisters, Randy Manning of Davie, FL and Kristi Beirne, of Austin; brother-in-law, Leo Erwin and wife, Sylvia; sister-in-law, Betty Davis; nieces, Kelli Erwin, of Amarillo and Stacy Fore, of Dallas; nephews, Kirk Davis and Jerre Davis, of Amarillo, Keith Davis, of Modesto, CA, and Jeff Davis, of Elgin, TX. The family suggests memorials be to the American Cancer Society or River City Hospice, 170 Main St., Hemphill, TX 75948.
