Cathy Sue Banes

Cathy Sue Ricketts Banes, 66, of Amarillo, passed away on Friday, December 29, 2023. Services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, January 4, 2024 at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Amarillo with Don Speedy officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at Brooks Chapel in Canyon.

Cathy was born on April 21, 1957 in Amarillo to Elwin and Irene (Werner) Ricketts. She was a 1975 graduate of Palo Duro High School where she enjoyed cheerleading. She married James Banes on July 13, 1985 in Amarillo.

Cathy dearly loved her grandchildren. She was a faithful Christian and a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church.

Cathy was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, James Banes; daughter, Allison Banes; son, Garrett Banes; two grandchildren, Alexia Velasquez and Gauge Aragon; two sisters, Debbie Coleman and Noni Hargis; and cousins, Sharon Jahsman, Judy Perkins, Joe James, and Cary Speer.
