Services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, September 28, 2005 at Brooks Chapel with Dr. David Lowrie, Jr., pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Graveside services will be at 4:00 P.M. on Wednesday at Wheeler Cemetery in Wheeler, Texas with Rev. Johnny Crawford, pastor of Briscoe Community Church, officiating. Carolyn Bonnette Kite was born on January 25, 1940 in Beaumont, Texas to Aubrey and Elizabeth Lea Bonnette. She graduated from Sour Lake High School in 1957. She taught at the state school for girls in Gainesville in 1960 and married Kirk Kite at Gainesville on September 3, 1961. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1962 with a bachelors degree in music and later graduated from West Texas State University with a Masters Degree. She taught music in the Friona ISD in 1962-1963 and then in Amarillo ISD until her retirement in 1995. She was an active member of Canyon Fine Arts Club and the Sue Hite Study Club, and she played the piano for Canyon Rotary Club. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Canyon where she played the piano, taught Sunday School, and was involved in prayer ministry. Survivors include her husband, Dr. Kirk Kite, of the home; one brother, David Bonnette, of Katy, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles; and her beloved pet dog, Casey. The family suggests memorials be to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, 1717 4th Avenue, Canyon, Texas 79015, or a favorite charity.
