Carolyn Jones

Carolyn Elaine Jones, 61, of Amarillo, Texas died Sunday, March 18, 2018.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Canyon, Texas with Father Robert A. Busch, Ph.D., officiating. Interment will be private. Vigil services will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at Brooks Chapel in Canyon.  Elaine was born to Leonard and Angelene Martin on December 31, 1956 in Levelland, Texas.  She grew up in Levelland, graduated from the local high school in 1975 and attended West Texas State University. Elaine married Richard Jones of Canyon in 1979.  They have two sons, Justin and Nicholas.  They lived in the panhandle, primarily Canyon, and in Denver Colorado. Elaine spent her professional life in the field of home loans and finance.  While in Denver, she established her own office and assisted her clients until she retired in 2017, when she and Richard returned home to Canyon. Elaine loved all music, but she especially loved to sing.  She joined her father and brothers in music and song from the time she was a child and continued to do so through her adult life.  Her beautiful voice lifted in song gave joy to all who heard her. Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Angelene Schoenrock Martin. She is survived by Richard, her beloved husband of 38 years; two sons, Justin and Nicholas, both of Lakewood, CO; her brother, Donnie Martin and sister-in-law, Nell Martin of Ropesville, TX; her brother, Randy Martin and sister-in-law, Robin Martin of Slaton, TX; numerous nieces and nephews; and her extended Jones family. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Susan G. Komen cancer research organization, PO Box 50610, Amarillo, TX 79159, or a charity of your choice.
