Services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at Brooks Chapel with Mike Darsey officiating. Graveside services will be at 2:30 P.M. on Wednesday at Alanreed Cemetery, Alanreed, TX. Carlton Patterson was born on February 4, 1923 to James Albert and Geneva Inez Patterson. He grew up in Alanreed, Texas. Carlton served in the 4th Army Tank Division. He married Ola Fae Eades on October 25, 1943, and they moved to Canyon in 1962. He worked for the Texas Highway Department, retiring after 33 years. After his retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his family, going dancing at 88 years old, listening to country music, and oh, how he loved watching his westerns on television. He also enjoyed going to the casinos. Carlton was a longtime member of the Masonic Lodge in Canyon. He was a loving husband, Daddy, and Papaw, always there for his family when they needed someone to help them. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him. He had a very special love for his granddaughter, Amber, and especially enjoyed all the times they spent together. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 56 years, Ola Fae, on September 14, 1999, four brothers, one being his twin brother, Carl, who was killed in an accident at the age of 9, two sisters, and a special friend, Mildred Wesley. A very special thank you to BSA Hospice, especially Mary Ann and Polly who went above and beyond with love, care, and compassion for Dad and our family. Dad loved you both. Survivors include three daughters, Nancy Skipper and husband, Floyd, of McLean, Barbara Bernard, of Canyon, and Margaret Hettinga, of the home; 7 grandchildren, Leslie Darsey and husband, Mike, of Alanreed, Carla Russell, of McLean, Debby Kellison, of Amarillo, Rhonda Bernard, of Canyon, Amber Bernard and husband, Clint, of Canyon, and Michael and Kristy Hettinga, both of Tampa, FL; 9 great grandchildren, Trent, Ashley, Khassi, Kailey, Anna, Crista, Triston, Tegan, and Melissa; 2 great-great grandchildren, Draven and Madilynn Rose; and 2 sisters, Mildred Carwile, of Purcell, OK, and Ruby Hayes, of Oklahoma City, OK.
