Carlee Hix

December 31, 1969 — April 7, 2004

Graveside services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 10, 2004 at Dreamland Cemetery, with the Rev. Dr. Don McDonald, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Mrs. Hix was born on March 15, 1922 in Canyon, Texas to Lorenzo and Ildagerte Dale Wirt, one of the pioneering families of Canyon. She was a graduate of Canyon High School and attended West Texas State University. She married L. L. Hix in October of 1946. She worked for a few years at the Randall County Courthouse in the County Clerk"s office. Her hobbies included painting, sewing, reading, working puzzles and playing bridge. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Canyon. She was also a member of the Esther McCrary Chapter of D.A.R. and was a past Matron and a fifty year member of Canyon City Chapter No. 105, Order of Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1977; one sister, Mary Catherine Wirt Hough, in 1996; and two brothers, Lorenzo "Skeeter" Wirt, in 1995; and Wayne V. Wirt, in 2002. Her wisdom and selfless ways will be deeply missed by her family and friends - all of whom cherished knowing her. Survivors include one sister, Martha Quillen Harmon, and husband, Bill, of Lubbock; one brother, John Louis Quillen, and wife, Barbara, of Oakdale, CA; and several nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorials be to Olivia"s Angels, PO Box 950, Amarillo, Texas 79105, or First Presbyterian Church, 904 19th St., Canyon, Texas 79015.
