Carl Wade Bourn, 58, finished his earthly walk of faith and gained his eternal sight when he joined Jesus on Sunday, October 11, 2026. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 24, at Southwest Church of Christ, with Brian Mashburn officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, October 23, at Brooks Funeral Home in Canyon, Texas.
Carl was born on July 21, 1968, in Canyon, Texas, to Wes and Linda (Phillips) Bourn. He was a Canyon boy through and through, attending Canyon schools from kindergarten through high school. He went on to earn his Bachelor of Applied Sciences degree with a minor in information technology, managing to squeeze a four-year degree into 10 years! Carl continued developing his skills throughout his career, working at TxDOT, Affiliated Foods, J.O. Wyatt Clinic and finally Pantex. Along the way, he made lifelong friendships. For Carl, the people were always just as important as the work.
Carl loved traveling, watching movies, diving, playing chess, reading, trivia, singing and Misty's cooking, especially her prize-winning salsa. He was handsome, quick-witted, sagacious and playful with a wonderful sense of humor and a servant's heart. He loved a good laugh, a clever conversation and spending time with the people he loved. Above all, Carl loved the Lord. His faith was the foundation of his life, carrying him through every joy and challenge and ultimately leading him to his eternal reward in the arms of Jesus.
Carl married Misty Worth on December 17, 2011, in Amarillo, Texas. Together, they shared nearly 15 years of love, adventure, laughter and serving one another. They were partners in life, each other's greatest companions, and together they built the family they had always dreamed of.
The pride and joy of Carl's life was his family. His legacy of love and devotion will live on through his six children: Kirstan Taylor and husband Jason; Zack Hendrix and wife Cass; Alyssa Lindsey and husband Brandon; Dale Bourn and wife Darian; Emily Bourn; and Jaylin Tirado and husband Thaddeus. He will be forever adored by his seven grandchildren: Ila, Zayden, Zayne, Ava, Maysen, Lilly and Judah. Always remember Bear loves you.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Wes and Linda Bourn.
He is survived by his treasured wife, Misty; his brothers, Edward Bourn and wife Paula of Melissa, Texas, and Lin Bourn of Amarillo, Texas; his children and grandchildren; and many dear friends who were blessed to know him.
If you feel led, the family kindly requests memorial donations be made to Camp Blue Haven, 24 Hours in the Canyon, (1732 Hagy Blvd., Amarillo, TX 79106), or Children's Heart Lane (www.childrensheartlane.org) in celebration of Maysen's remission from childhood cancer.
