Services will be at 11:00 A.M. Monday, May 27, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in Happy, with Rev. Bob Miller, South Georgia Baptist Church, and Carl Gene Wilkes, of Plano, officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. on Sunday, May 26, 2013 at Happy's Memorial Chapel. Viewing will be at Happy's Memorial Chapel. Buddy Joe Selvidge, 79, of Canyon formerly of Happy died Friday May 24, 2013 at Odyssey Hospice in Amarillo after eight long years of cancer. Buddy was born on October 27, 1933 in Happy, TX to Bud and Curly Selvidge. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Happy. He grew up in Happy and graduated from Happy High School in 1953. After high school he went to Texas Tech and played football for two years. From July 13, 1955 to June 25, 1957 he served in the Army and played football in Germany in the 6th infantry division. Following an honorable discharge he returned to Happy where he worked at Happy Wheat Growers. Later he farmed and ranched for over 40 years in the Arney community. The past 6 years he and his wife have served that community as their rural route mail carriers. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bud and Curly Selvidge. The family would like to thank the loving staff at Odyssey Hospice, Sara, Rachel, Ester, Joe, Shelly and Anita. Survivors include his spouse, Lawana, of the home; children, Rhnea Cathey and husband, Rooster, of Canyon, and Tisha Dougherty and husband, Joe, of Happy; a sister, Phyllis Jean Wilkes and husband, Carl, of Grapeland, TX; a brother, Sharrell Ray and wife, Nancy Selvidge, of Yuma, CO; grandchildren, Staci Croslin and husband, Colby, Braden and Sara Brooks, Caeley Wayne and Jacqualin Cathey, and Keisha and Kale Flanagan; great-grandchildren; Camden Croslin, Bentley, Ridley and Talan Cathey, Maddox Flanagan, and Kolton Brooks due in June; and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. on Sunday, May 26, 2013 at Happy's Memorial Chapel. The family suggests memorials be to Crossroad County Church, P.O.
