Amarillo

Brian Christopher Anniss, a devoted family man, cherished friend, and dedicated agricultural business professional, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2026, at his beloved ranch in Amarillo, Texas. Born on July 22, 1974, in Waterloo, Iowa, Brian's life was marked by commitment, generosity, and a profound connection to both his roots and the land he so dearly loved.

Brian was the son of Earnest and Anna Lou (Lay) Anniss of Dysart, Iowa, who survive him and remain a testament to his enduring family bonds. He spent his formative years in Iowa, graduating in 1993 from Union High School in Dysart-LaPorte City. Pursuing higher education at Iowa State University, Brian earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agricultural Business in 1998, setting the foundation for a lifelong career in the agricultural industry.

His faith was a cornerstone of his life, as evidenced by his acceptance of Jesus as his Lord and Saviour through baptism on April 9, 1987, at the Waterloo Church of Christ, now known as River’s Edge Christian Church. This spiritual commitment provided strength and guidance throughout his journey.

Brian's professional path began in Triangle Park, North Carolina, where he started with Rhone-Poulence Ag Company, navigating through various company acquisitions that took him eventually to Dumas, Texas. His career was distinguished by his role in sales and his adaptability to the evolving agricultural business landscape.

In 2013, Brian realized a deeply personal dream when he purchased his cherished ranch outside Amarillo. He invested not just in the property but in making it a haven for friends and family, notably adding a "barn" to the bunkhouse in 2016. This space became the heart of many joyous celebrations, exemplifying his generous spirit embodied perfectly in his way of living: "If I have it and you need it, it is yours."

Brian is survived by his loving brother Eric Anniss and Eric's wife Hillary along with their children Claire and Eli, all residing in Waterloo, Iowa. He also leaves behind a host of relatives including aunts Evelyn (Rayburn) Daugherty, Gerri (Larry) Lay, and Jan (Jim) Schwertz; uncles Robert (Janice) Anniss, Joe (Beverly) Anniss, and Bill (Ludenia) Anniss; and his dear friend Kimberly Coffey. His extended family includes many cousins spanning across North Carolina, South Carolina, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Virginia, Missouri, and Nebraska.

His friends throughout Texas were also part of his cherished family and his friends are as numbered as the stars in the sky.

Preceding Brian in death were both sets of grandparents, two uncles, an aunt, and a cousin, who rest in peace, their memories cherished alongside his.

Brian Christopher Anniss leaves behind a profound impact on all who knew him—a life filled with integrity, faith, and selfless kindness. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and the land he loved. May he rest in eternal peace.
