Bonnie Barrett

Services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, August 6, 2007 at Brooks Chapel with Rev. Donna Johnston, associate pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 5, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Brooks Chapel. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery. Bonnie Sue Barrett was born on March 25, 1962 in Canyon, Texas to Dick and Suzanne Stephenson Barrett. She graduated from Canyon High School in 1980 and then from Exposito School of Hair Design. She lived most of her life in Canyon as a homemaker and was a long time Girl Scout Leader. She lived for a while in Dumas where she worked as a cosmetologist. After moving back to Canyon, she worked at BSA Hospital as a Certified Nurses Assistant. Bonnie Sue passed away after a fifteen year battle with brain cancer. She was preceded in death by her mother, Suzanne Barrett, and her grandmother, Florence Stephenson. Survivors include her daughter, Brandi Merriman, of Canyon; her son, Ty Merriman, of Amarillo; her father, Dick Barrett, of Canyon; three brothers, John Barrett and wife, Loretta and children, Kirk, Joey, Rebecca, John and James, of Moore, OK, Corky Barrett and wife, Deborah and children David and Michael, of Canyon, and Rodney Barrett and wife, Debbie and children Savanah, Jeromy and Jennifer, of Noble, OK; cousin, Irene James, of Canyon; and many friends. The family suggests memorials be to Canyon Cares, 1719 5th Avenue, Canyon, TX 79015 or Canyon Public Library, 1501 3rd Avenue, Canyon, TX 79015.
