Billy L. Triplett went home at the age of 82, on April 11th, 2025. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at Brooks Chapel in Canyon, Texas with Darren Dye, pastor of Freedom Fellowship Church, officiating.
Bill was born on June 2, 1942 in Mooreland, Oklahoma, to Arvin and Nora (Wreath) Triplett. He grew up in Claude, Texas until his junior year in high school when he moved to Canyon, Texas. He graduated from Canyon High School in 1960 and attended West Texas State University, where he graduated in 1966 with honors in a degree of Industrial Education.
In 1969, he had a chance reconnection with a long time family friend whom he had known since childhood, Betty Morgan of Claude. On December 26, 1970, they were married in Claude and established their residence in Canyon, where he planted his favorite yellow rose bush that still thrives today.
After graduation, he worked as foreman for a local contractor in construction and continued local contracting until purchasing a farm outside of Umbarger, Texas in 1976. He began farming and custom farming in the area over the next several years. During those years, he would also build custom cabinets for local individuals. He continued his carpentry trade working for the City of Amarillo, providing custom cabinets for several offices. In 1994, he became a Boiler Plant Operator at West Texas A&M University, which he retired from 16 years later.
Bill was an industrial scholar; he was skilled in the crafts that required manual dexterity. He was athletic and determined; there was no challenge that he could not overcome; most of the time in a very unique and clever way. He had an immense love for nature and saw the true beauty in land. Artistic and creative, he paid attention to every detail; even down to the dust being kicked up by a horse cart in one of his paintings.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Arvin and Nora (Wreath) Triplett, and brothers, Charles Triplett, Ronald Triplett, Donald Triplett, and Richard Triplett.
Survivors include his wife Betty, daughter Heather Gillman and husband Trey of Borger, three grandchildren and three great grandchildren, plus many exceptional friends that are considered family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests you to consider donations in memory of Bill to Freedom House, 55 Hunsley Hills Road, Canyon, Texas 79015.
