Billy Gene Houchin, Jr. was born on December 14, 1954, in Clayton, New Mexico, to Billy Gene Houchin, Sr. and Mary Geraldine (Wiley) Houchin. He graduated from Palo Duro High School and proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era. After his military service, Billy pursued a welding certificate from Amarillo College.
Billy married Beverly Allen, and together they had two sons, Baeron and Toby. In 1993, he married Julie Ann Maguire in Amarillo, and they had two children, Nicolus and Angela.
Billy worked as a rural letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Canyon, where he dedicated 27 years to building and maintaining his routes. His relationships with his patrons were genuine, and he was well-loved by all who knew him. He retired in 2018 after a fulfilling career.
Billy was deeply devoted to his faith and served for many years at his home church, The Summit in Canyon. His passions included working on Honda motorcycles, repairing antique clocks for his loved ones, and training and competing with dogs in obedience. In his free time, Billy enjoyed relaxing to the sounds of Elvis Presley.
Billy was fiercely loyal to his friends and devoted to his wife, Julie. His greatest joy, however, was spending time with his grandchildren, who adored him and eagerly looked forward to visits at Grandpa's house. No matter how full his arms or his heart, he welcomed them with open arms.
