Billie Dixon

Billie Marlene Dixon, 82, of Canyon passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2018 in Amarillo, Texas. Services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, January 25 at the University Church of Christ with David Lough, minister, officiating. Burial will follow at Dreamland Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 24 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Brooks Chapel. Arrangements are by Brooks Funeral Directors. Billie was born on September 11, 1935 in Memphis, Texas to Allen and Annie Curry Hartman. She graduated from Memphis High School and attended Amarillo Business College. She married G.B. "Dick" Dixon on August 25, 1956. They honeymooned in Colorado Springs. Billie said that she and Dick always had fun and she was thrilled to have had such a good marriage. She and Dick went on many trips together but the trip they took to the Tetons in Jackson Hole, Wyoming was her favorite. Dick preceded her in death in 2006. She was a switchboard operator and then administrative assistant for Diamond Shamrock before retiring in 1995. Billie loved to travel, work in her yard, go shopping and cook. Doing things for other people was Billie's greatest joy. She also enjoyed daily walks and drives with her dog, Harm. She was a member of the University Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents; and six siblings, Pauline, Herbert, Charlie, Kenny, Marquize, and Roy. She is survived by three daughters, D'Aun Bowers and husband Richard, of Canyon, Resa Moerbe and husband Thomas, of Denver, Shawna Williams and husband Daryl, of Stillwater; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; and three siblings, Jerita, Linda and Jimmy. The family suggests memorials be made to the University Church of Christ, P.O. Box 427, Canyon, TX 79015.
