Services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church in Happy with Rev. Tom Stribling officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Monday, April 27, 2015 at Happy's Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in Happy Cemetery, Happy, Texas Betty Jean Miller was born June 21, 1946, in Cooke County, Texas, to Cecil and Davie Shaw. She married her high school sweetheart, John H. "Johnny" Miller, December 27, 1961. They made their home in Happy, Texas. For 24 years, Betty owned and operated Betty's Beauty Box in downtown Happy, Texas. She had a large library in the back room for all of her clients to enjoy. In 1999, after obtaining her GED and taking classes at Amarillo College, Betty started working at Panhandle Plains Student Loan Center. She worked there until it was sold, and was currently processing student loans for Xerox Corporation. Betty was mom and grandma to her children and grandchildren and their many, many friends. She was always happy to open her home and create a spread of food for anyone her family would invite to family functions. Betty was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Cecil R. "Pee Wee" Shaw Jr. The many, many friends and extended family that showed up to visit Betty during her illness is a wonderful testament to the many lives she touched. Betty is survived by her husband, Johnny, a daughter and son-in-law Sharla and Mike Fowler, a son and daughter-in-law, John H. Miller Jr. and "K" Miller. Her grandchildren Deborah James and husband, Robin James; C.M. Fowler; J.T. Miller and wife, Kayla Miller; Cody Lambert; Steven Miller; Cheyenne Rice; and Jeffrey Miller. Her sisters, Delores, Winona, and Brenda. Her aunts, Inez, Wanda, and Mary Frances. Numerous nephews, nieces, great-nephews, and great-nieces. Included among the family survivors are several adopted families that Betty always made sure to include in family functions. The family would like to thank the staff at BSA Hospital, MD Anderson Cancer Center, The Arbors, and especially BSA Hospice for the care and compassion shown to Betty and family the last two months.
