Betty was born on February 22, 1933 in Odell, Texas to A.S. 'Pat' and Sarah (Weaver) Tooley. She was a 1950 graduate of Odell High School where she was very active in volleyball, basketball, was elected Homecoming Queen, and was Salutatorian of her class. She married Dale Holloway in her parents' farmhouse on December 6, 1956.
Betty and Dale lived in Panhandle for many years, where she was a member of Panhandle Church of Christ. They moved to Amarillo for a short time, and after Dale passed on January 23, 2004, Betty built a house in Canyon and remained extremely independent. She was a faithful member of University Church of Christ and especially enjoyed taking a cake to every Monday Lunch for the high school students.
Betty was completely devoted to her family. Her life was full and centered around her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, who lovingly call her 'Grandmother.' She was always willing to help if needed and was excited about anything they were doing. Betty had a passion for keeping up with immediate and extended family, and in her later years, sending cards and words of encouragement were her way to keep in touch.
Betty is also preceded in death by her parents, her in-laws, Clark and Lenora Holloway, her brother, Wendell Tooley, and a sister-in-law, Sissy Holloway.
Survivors include her son, Joe Holloway and wife, Leanne of Plainview; her daughter, Donna Reece and husband, Rick of Canyon; six grandchildren, Carissa (Kevin) McCaughin of Rockledge, FL, Matt Holloway of Plainview, Kelsie (Zach) Stone of Turkey, Mark (Angela) Holloway of Canyon, Jordan (Jill) Reece of Shallowater, and Hunter Reece and fiancé, Kami Tippett of Canyon; nine great grandchildren, Jacie McCaughin, Lena-Grace and Logan Holloway, Bryer, Barrett, Gentry, and Crockett Stone, and Laurel and Preston Reece; brother-in-law, Lee Holloway of Iowa Park; and several nieces and nephews.
