Bessie Samuelson

Bessie Blanton Samuelson, 91, of Canyon, died Sunday, February 9, 2003 in Amarillo. Services will be at 10:00 am on Wednesday, February 12, 2003 at the First United Methodist Church of Canyon with Rev. Donna Johnson, associate pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery. Bessie was born on January 14, 1912 in Granger, Texas to David and Lou Katie Lindeman Blanton. She attended high school in Panhandle and Canyon and attended WTSU. She married Otto Samuelson in Clovis, NM in 1932. After growing up on her father's farm north of Canyon, she and her husband were in business in Canyon for many years. She is retired from the WTAMU Bookstore. She is a member of the Eastern Star and First United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1986. Survivors include one daughter, Anna Lou Ashby, of New York, NY; two sons, Bobby Samuelson, of Phoenix, AZ, and Norris Samuelson, of Everman, TX; five grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Dreamland Cemetery, PO Box 38 Canyon, TX 79015, or BSA Hospice, PO Box 950 Amarillo, TX 79176.
