Bess Castleberry

Graveside services will be at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, January 8, 2007 at Dreamland Cemetery with Jerry McClenagan, retired minister, officiating. Mrs. Castleberry was born September 5, 1914 in Zephyr, Texas to Benjamin and Beulah Donowho. She grew up and graduated from high school in Meadows, Texas. She married Paul Castleberry on January 5, 1935 in the Methodist parsonage in Floydada. She was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters, Berta Widener and Bennie Counts, both formerly of Lubbock, and two brothers, Junie Donowho, formerly of Bakersfield, CA and R.T. Donowho, of Wichita Falls. Bess always fondly remembered friends in the University and the Jim Wilson Bridge Clubs, friends in the Canyon Healthcare Center and the BSA daycare. Survivors include two sons, Frank Castleberry, and Paul Castleberry, Jr., both of Canyon; a sister, Billie Jean Standefer, of Plainview; four grandchildren, Sharon, Joe Don, Jeff, and Sarah; and one great granddaughter, Amber Gail Newsome. MEMORIALS: The family suggests memorials be given to the Paul & Bess Castleberry Scholarship Fund at West Texas A&M Univestiy.
