Bertie Laroe

Services will be 1:30 P.M. on Tuesday, July 31, 2007 at Church of Christ in Happy, Texas with Rick Bloodworth, officiating. Bertie Ruth LaRoe was born on December 31, 1924 to Burt and Mattie Cathey Usrey in Shamrock, Texas. She graduated from Hedley High School in 1942. She moved to Happy in 1947 and taught school for two years. She returned to Lubbock to complete her degree at Texas Tech in 1950. Bertie married Shirley LaRoe on August 25, 1950 in Amarillo, Texas. She and her husband moved back to Happy in 1952. Bertie was a homemaker and 4-H Leader. She was a member of the Happy Church of Christ. She is preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Bettye B. Still, and brothers, Paul Usrey, Burt Usrey, and Edward Lee Usrey. Survivors include her husband, Shirley LaRoe of the home; two daughters, Cathey Jo and husband, Levon Harman of Happy, TX, and Jini and husband, Steve Morris of Oklahoma City, OK; two granddaughters, Amanda and Kate Harman; four brothers, Wilson Usrey of Deer Park, TX, Joe Usrey of Amarillo, TX, Malcolm Usrey of Clemson, SC, and Jack Usrey of Logan, NM; sister, Patricia Morrison of Athens, OH; two sister in laws, Wanda Usrey of Higley, AZ, and Alice Usrey of Tyler, TX.
