Services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, November 9, 2015 at Brooks Chapel in Canyon, Texas. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery. Barney Joe "Papa" Taylor entered into the gates of heaven to live in eternity with the Lord on Friday, November 6, 2015. Joe was born on June 5, 1934 in Blackburn, Oklahoma to James Anderson and Laura Viola Taylor, as the eighth of nine children. He was raised on a farm and grew to love all animals. Joe was devoted to the open road as a truck driver. It was his way of traveling to places he had never seen, enjoying the outdoors, meeting new people, and finding the best pancakes, biscuits, gravy and hot coffee around. You could usually find Joe dressed in Crimson and Cream to support his beloved Oklahoma Sooners. He spent many weekends cheering for his drivers or getting his hands dirty at the stock car races. Joe loved talking and spending his time with others, but cherished and lived for spending time with his family. His eternal joy was getting to enjoy his beautiful grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Joe was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Lois,Elsie, Arthur, Frances, Maudie, James, Olen, and Lloyd. He will be missed but we will see him again. Joe is survived by his children, Debi Meng and son-in-law Arlen of Weatherford, Texas, Greg Taylor of Canyon, Texas, Brenda Peoples and son-in-law Allen of El Reno, Oklahoma, Tere Anderson of Canyon, Texas; grandchildren, Justa Dowler and husband Drew, Jaton Crownover and wife Alexis, Jarred Meiwes and wife Kehley, Brandon Meiwes and wife Theresa, Tyler Meiwes and wife Crystal, Erin Taylor, Cara Kent and husband Cody, Savanah Hollowell and husband Chase; great-grandchildren, Jameson Crownover, Broxton and Brantley Meiwes, Gannon Meiwes, Ryley Kent, and Shaelei Payne; Sisters-in-law Sylvia Taylor, Billie Taylor, and Devonna Smith; and many nieces and nephews.
