Barney Moore, 89, of Canyon, died Wednesday, March 16, 2016 in Canyon. Private graveside services will be held. Barney was born November 29, 1926 in Red River County to Seymore and Lizzie Peek, the seventh child of eight. She was a graduate of high school and many life lessons. Barney was a grocery checker at Taylor and Son's for 14 years and then a custodian at West Texas A&M University until her retirement in 2009. She had been a member of the First Baptist Church since April 8, 1965. She was loved by many and could barely go anywhere without seeing someone she knew. She loved her family and her friends. Her door was always open. She was very fun-loving and always smiling. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.V. Moore; a daughter, Lizanne Keeling; daughter-in-law, Teri Keeling; her parents; three brothers, Russell Peek, Haskell Peek, and Alton Peek; and by two sisters, Mary Holly Hodges and Janet Jones. She is survived by a brother, Tom Peek, of Boxelder; sister, Mobelia, of Vancouver B.C., Canada; two children, Brenda Sherrod and husband, Clifford, of Hurst, Jimmy Keeling, of Canyon; two grandchildren, Alton Keeling and wife, Kim, of Saginaw, Annalee Moore and husband, Eran, of Vigo Park; and 4 and a half great grandchildren.
