Barbara Smith

Barbara Smith, 86, of Canyon, passed away on Saturday, June 11, 2022. Services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, June 17, 2022 at Christ Family Fellowship with Travis Evers officiating. Burial will follow in Dreamland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, June 16, 2022 at Brooks Chapel.

Barbara was born on September 22, 1935 in Alex, Oklahoma, daughter of Emma and Charlie Howard. She married Roy Shirley Smith on November 30, 1952 in a family home. Barbara was a wonderful homemaker and a constant helpmate on the family farm. She enjoyed watching sports and loved college basketball, faithfully following the North Carolina Tar Heels. She also loved reading and treasured being surrounded by her family. Barbara never missed supporting Scott or her grandchildren in their many games and events.
Barbara was a longtime member of Christ Family Fellowship where she was always involved in activities especially Vacation Bible School. She also served as a Boy Scout leader. In her youth, she taught the nursery class at Dawn Baptist Church.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter, Beverly, and a brother, Leon. Survivors include her daughter, Donna Jordan and husband, Don of Alva, OK; her son, Scott Smith and wife, Donae of Canyon; grandchildren, Jen Wyatt and husband, Travis of Piedmont, OK, Brad Jordan and wife, Danielle of Claremore, OK, Ashleigh Smith and fiancé, Cody Anderwald, both of Canyon, and Ryan Smith and Laura Holloway, both of Canyon; four great grandchildren, Cari and Delaney Wyatt, and Shayleigh and Tanner Jordan; her sister, Ann Collier Cox of Wagoner, OK; and her brother, Don Howard, of Sterling City, TX.

When faced with adversity, Barbara will be lovingly remembered by her family for her constant response: "I know where I'm going! This is just another bump in the road."
