Barbara Kirkley

December 31, 1969 — February 23, 2013

Memorial services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, February 28, 2013 at the Prayer Chapel, Trinity Fellowship Church, 5000 Hollywood Rd. in Amarillo with Rev. John Love and Pastor Jeff Messer officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at Brooks Chapel in Canyon. Private burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery Barbara Fay Hudgins Kirkley, 72, ascended to be with her Lord on Saturday, February 23, 2013. Barbara was born in Amarillo on January 28, 1941 to Oleta E. Barnes and Don L. Hudgins. She graduated from Amarillo High School and was in the Civil Air Patrol and Sweet Adelines (Barbershop Quartet). Barbara had a 30-year-career as a PBX (telephone operator) for the Amarillo Police Dept., The Telephone Co, Mesa Petroleum and Randall County, to name a few. After that she joined her beloved husband of 30 years, Gene Kirkley, assisting him at the M.E. Moses Store in Canyon. She also had an artificial floral arrangement business, Barbara's Baskets and Bows, which she ran from her home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene, on April 15, 2010 and her parents. Barbara loved the Lord with all her heart. One of her favorite scriptures is Jeremiah 29:11 ""For I know the plans I have for you, plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope."" The family would like to thank Bivins Memorial Nursing Facility for their loving care these past few years as well as the Critical Care/ICU staff at BSA for their expertise and concern. Survivors include two sisters, Mary Jo Early, of Amarillo and Donna Prather and husband, Kenneth, of Denver, CO; three daughters, Bari D. Moulin and husband, Mark of Frazier Park, CA, Lynette Amick and husband, Johnny of Huntsville, TX, and Suzanne Shaw and husband, Clif, of Slaton, TX; grandson, Jonathan Seta of Frazier Park, CA; and granddaughter, Kelli Jo Amick of Huntsville, TX.
