Ann Hinds went to sleep here on earth on Friday January 10, 2025, and woke up to that Glorious Day in Eternity that she was always referring to. Services will be 10:00 Friday, January 17 at Washington Avenue Christian Church with Pastor Lennie McCay officiating. Interment will follow at 1:00 (MST) at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis, New Mexico.
Ann was born on October 4, 1949, in Denver, Colorado to Robert and Margaret (Orlusky) Spriggs. She was adopted by her stepfather, William Stewart, and raised in the mountains outside of Fraiser, CO. Ann graduated from Middle Park High School in 1968. She met the love of her life while attending college at NMSU and married Robert on August 26, 1978.
Before graduating college, Ann worked in various occupations. The one she talked about most often was waiting tables, but she also worked in bookkeeping and accounting. Ann completed her college education at ENMU, graduating with a bachelor's degree in business administration with Honors. Upon graduating, she worked as a computer programmer/analyst for Pioneer Corp., Amarillo Hardware, CISD, and AQHA. She co-owned with Robert and worked at Sudan Beacon News. She also co-owned and worked at the Canyon Sewing Center with Robert where she gave sewing lessons. Ann was a founding member of the American Legion Darren Tate Post 425 Auxiliary. She loved helping with the many projects that the Post is involved with.
Ann loved fishing, especially fly fishing in the mountains. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and teaching both to others. She also enjoyed cooking, particularly inventing and testing new recipes.
Ann is preceded in death by her parents, an infant son Daniel Hinds, a brother Carl Stewart, and a stepsister Alexis Spriggs.
Ann is survived by her husband of 46 years; a daughter, Michelle Browning of Temple, TX; a grandchild, Bridget "Miles" Browning of Temple, TX; three sisters, Karen Hopkins and Diana Buecher both of Henderson, TX, and Billie Stewart of North Platte, NE; two sisters-in-law, Linda Douglas and Judy Morrow both of Clovis, NM; and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Mike Hinds, Samuel and William Morrow, Travis Goodman, Trenton Whitehead and Stephen Tibbets.
Honorary Pallbearer will be Luis Onsurez Jr.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations be made to Washington Avenue Christian Church Family Service Center in Amarillo, Christian Relief Fund at christianrelieffund.org, or the charity of your choice.
