Andrew Lindemann

Services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, December 22, 2004 at St. Mary"s Catholic Church in Umbarger with Father Pat Carathers officiating. Prayer Service will be at 6:00 P.M. on Tuesday, December 21 at Brooks Chapel with Father Jim Hutzler and Rev. Jim Brown officiating. Burial will be in Umbarger Cemetery, Umbarger, Texas. A Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 22 at St. Mary"s at 2:00 PM. Mr. Lindemann was born on October 8, 1924 in Amarillo to Andrew J. and Aline Lankford Lindemann. He attended St. Mary"s school in Amarillo and West Texas Training School and High School in Canyon. As a young man, he was employed in the crew that built Buffalo Lake. He was in the U. S. Army from 1944 to 1946 and was in the 70th Infantry, 276th Mountain Division, Company K. He received five battle stars and a combat infantryman badge and served in the France and Germany campaign. He returned to Umbarger after World War II and with his brother, James, established Fisherman"s Supply, a bait store near Buffalo Lake. He met Odessa Scruggs at Umbarger in 1946, and they were married there on August 12, 1947. They owned and operated Fisherman"s Supply until 1968 when Buffalo Lake was closed. Mr. Lindemann worked as a carpenter until 1971. He then owned and operated Chaparral Villa mobile home park in Canyon until he retired in 1994. He was devoted to his family and his faith. He served as a lay minister and was a parish board and finance committee member at St. Mary"s in Umbarger and also served on the water board at Umbarger. Mr. Lindemann was an avid game bird hunter and fisherman. He loved spending time at his country home with his beloved wife, his daughters, their husbands, and his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, James Harold, in 1948. Survivors include his wife, Odessa Lindemann, of Umbarger; three daughters, Susan McDivitt, of Amarillo, Shirley Neuser, of Midland, and Sharon Day, of Rockwall; three sisters, Sister Mary Bertille, of New Orleans, LA, Georgia Woods, of Dayton, OH, and Anna Robertson, of Amarillo; one brother, Carol Lindemann, of Amarillo; and thirteen grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to the American Heart Association, 6605 IH 40 West, Amarillo, TX 79106, or your favorite charity.
