Services will be at 10:00 AM Monday, January 21, 2008 at The Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Happy with Bishop John W. Yanta, pastor, officiating. A vigil will be held at 4:00 PM Sunday, January 20, 2008 at Happy"s Memorial Chapel. Viewing will also be at Happy"s Memorial Chapel. Burial is in Happy Catholic Cemetery. Amadeo Perez, Sr. was born on February 12, 1924 to Rumaldo and Maria Singleterry Perez at Mission, Texas. He married Mercedes "Chela" Diaz at Greeley, Colorado on May 6, 1949. In June of 1996, he was ordained as a Deacon of the Catholic Diocese in Amarillo. He fulfilled his deaconal duties at The Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Happy, and provided pastoral care at North West Texas Hospital. He was a member of the Cursillo Movement of the Catholic Diocese of Amarillo for 47 years. Survivors include his wife, Mercedes "Chela" Perez, of Happy; five children, Perla Grubb and husband, Cody, of Tulia, Romaldo Perez and wife, Deborah, of Glendale, AZ, Amadeo Jr. and wife, Christie, of Frisco, Randy Perez and wife, Cindy, of Amarillo, and Ricky Perez and wife, Shannon, of Amarillo; two brothers, Raymundo Perez, of Edinburg, TX, and Federico Perez, of Granview, WA; three sisters, Bertha Montemayor, of McAllen, TX, Elvira Salinas, of San Carlos, TX, and Christina Sanchez, of Coachella, CA; eleven grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
