Alvin Foster Moudy

January 12, 1929 — October 7, 2020

Alvin Foster Moudy of Happy, TX was born on January 12, 1929 in Monroe (now New Deal) Texas to Robert Thomas and Lella Foster Moudy. He completed his journey on this earth on October 7, 2020 at the age of 91. Born the youngest in his family of four children, Alvin lived most of his life in Happy. Alvin graduated from Happy High School in 1946, continuing his education at Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas. There he met the "one I wanted to share my life with" – Mary Catherine Stubblefield. They were married in August of 1950 and were faithfully and happily married until her passing in March of 2018.

Alvin farmed and worked at the family dairy east of Happy until 1959 when he became the school tax assessor collector and business manager. Alvin spent the rest of his career both farming and working in the Happy School District. After finishing administrative coursework in Austin, Alvin and Mary returned their family to Happy, where Alvin spent 1968 – 1989 as chemistry teacher and high school principal. Alvin and Mary not only built a family, but they built their beautiful brick and mortar home in Happy.

Alvin and Mary were parents to four children: Alvin, Jr and his wife Jill of Shallowater, Janet and her husband, Ken Crossland of Canyon, Bobby and his wife Sharla of Tulia and Carolyn and her husband Rick Bloodworth of Happy. They had 13 grandchildren – Gabe Moudy, Robyn Barnett, Lynsey Wells, John Caleb Plaster, J'Taun Sanchez, Sara Crossland, Creed Crossland, Jim Moudy, Joe Moudy, Jake Moudy, A.J. Bloodworth, Cherise Bloodworth, and Rebecca Duncan – and two bonus grandchildren – Matt Cook and Philip Baidoo-Eissen. Alvin and Mary had 37 great grandchildren. They received the well-deserved honor of "Parents of the Year" from Lubbock Christian University in 1980. Alvin is survived by his children, grandchildren and numerous well-loved nieces and nephews, as well as a sister-in-law Lucy Moudy of Happy, a brother-in-law Gordon Anderson of Lubbock, and a sister-in-law Carol Russell and her husband Carl of Manchester, TN.

Alvin was a spiritual giant - a calm gentle spirit and a great teacher. He served as an elder at the Happy Church of Christ for 36 years. He and Mary hosted many people at their table as they shared the blessings of God's word and His bounty. "He taught us to work hard at our jobs (whether at school, at work, or through the farm), study our Bibles, and to keep grounded in the things that matter. He was so talented, but loved well, listened, celebrated, and encouraged us and so many others."

Private family services will be held. Memorial gifts may be made to the Happy Volunteer Fire Department, Box 216, Happy TX 79042 or to the Happy Church of Christ for the 30 Day Challenge or the Ghana Mission work, Box 578, Happy TX 79042.

The ripple effect of his love and example will continue to influence so many and the family is thankful for your prayers.
