Altha Lorene Cross

Altha Lorene Cross, 73, of Canyon, passed away on Friday, February 17, 2023. Services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, February 20, 2023 at Brooks Chapel with Rev. Steve Olsen, pastor of First Baptist Church of Canyon, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Amarillo.

Altha was born on December 30, 1949 in Memphis, Texas to Joe and Odessa (Flowers) Mathews. She was a longtime resident of Borger and moved to Canyon in 2012. She loved playing cards, especially Canasta, and enjoyed working in the yard. She will be lovingly remembered for her easy-going nature.

Altha was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, T.J. Cross, and four brothers, Jack Mathews, Jimmy Mathews, David Richardson, and Jerry Mathews.

Survivors include her son, Truman Cross and wife, Joyce of Hugoton, KS; two daughters, Shawna Palmer and husband, Jerry of Canyon and Ruby Cross of Amarillo; twelve grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; her companion, Michael Dishman; and two sisters, Alice Jo Lantz of Clarendon and Letha Mitchell of Borger.
