Adele Gammill

Adele Berwyn Gammill, 89, passed away Friday, January 5, 2018 in Amarillo, Texas.  Memorial services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church in Portales, New Mexico with Dr. Keith Wilks officiating. Interment will be at a later date. Adele was born in Portales, New Mexico on May 9, 1928 to Elmer and Blanche Harp. Adele attended public school in Portales where she graduated from high school, and she then attended Eastern New Mexico University for a year and a half. She married Melvin "Lefty" Lovorn on April 4, 1947 in the Portales First Methodist Church, and they were married for 59 years until his death in January, 2006. Adele enjoyed family gatherings, cooking, quilting, sewing, going to her grandsons' athletic events, and spending time with friends. She was a proud lifelong member of the Portales First United Methodist Church which she loved dearly. Adele is survived by her son Neil and wife Lynn, grandsons Cody Lovorn, Kyle Lovorn and wife Sierra, Matthew Lovorn and wife Kelsey, and great-grandchildren Peyton, Easton, Laykin, and Jett; her cousin, Karen Vardeman and husband "Shorty"; and her sister-in-law Donna Harp, and nieces Valerie, Carol, and Dawn.  Adele was preceded in death by her husband Joe Gammill, her daughter Karla Lovorn, her parents, and her brother Keigm Harp. The family suggests that memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church of Portales.
