Aaron John Lopez, born March 30, 1969, in Muleshoe Texas, passed away on May 12, 2026, surrounded by the love of family and friends whose lives he touched deeply throughout his lifetime.

Aaron was born to Zenon Lopez and Pina Hurtado-Lopez and was raised in Muleshoe, Texas where he graduated from high school and built the foundation of the hardworking, compassionate man so many came to know and love. On August 11th 1990, he married Maria Theresa Yap in Muleshoe, Texas. Though they divorced in 2018, they remained the very best of friends and lifelong partners in raising and loving their family.

In January of 1992, Aaron and his family moved to Amarillo, where he spent most of his life building not only homes and projects, but friendships, memories, and a legacy of kindness. Aaron proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, a chapter of his life he held close to his heart forever. His love for his country and pride in his service remained with him throughout his life.

Aaron was truly a jack of all trades. As a general contractor for most of his life, there was very little he could not fix, build, or teach someone else to do. He was incredibly knowledgeable and always willing to lend a helping hand. If someone needed help, Aaron would be there without hesitation. He was the kind of man who would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. Even during his time off, he was happiest finding a new project, helping others with theirs, or teaching someone a new skill.

Outside of work, Aaron loved listening to music, traveling, and spending time with his children and grandchildren, whom he adored beyond measure. He especially loved playing pool and was an active member of various teams in the Amarillo pool community. Through the game, he built lifelong friendships and looked forward every year to traveling to Las Vegas for pool tournaments with friends and family.

Aaron will be remembered for his genuine spirit, loving heart, and unwavering generosity. He had the heart of an angel, and anyone who knew him knew the warmth, laughter, and comfort he brought into every room. It would be difficult to find a person who had a bad thing to say about him because Aaron spent his life loving people well and treating everyone like family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Zenon Lopez, and his beloved granddaughter, Brynnlee Elizabeth Hampton.

Aaron is survived by his mother, Pina Lopez; his life partner and best friend, Maria Theresa Yap; his children, Jess and Emmalee Yap, and Nikki and Kevin McDaniel; his twin brother, Darron Lopez; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Cathy and Doug Hughes, and Rosie and David Vela; his cherished grandchildren, Preston and Dawson Yap, and Haven, Malcom, Carter, and Eryn McDaniel; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who loved him deeply.

A Vigil and Rosary will be held at 6:00 PM on Friday, May 22nd, at Brooks Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 PM on Saturday, May 23rd, at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Canyon, with burial to follow at Dreamland Cemetery.

Aaron’s love, wisdom, laughter, and kindness will live on forever in the hearts of those blessed enough to know him.
